Search Engine Friendly Flash Files?

By admin | July 1, 2008

In a few of my posts and on our free site on how to make a website I’ve mentioned that Flash isn’t the best thing to use if you are looking to optimize your website for search engines. Well it appears that this is about to change.

Adobe had developed a special flash player for Google and Yahoo to read Flash files. This application will read the SWF file in a way that search engines can understand them.

This is great news for those developers who have wanted to enhance the look, feel and functionality of their website but haven’t done so due to the fact that search engines haven’t been able to distinguish the content of Flash files.

According to Michael Turner, Adobe’s VP of marketing, Google is already rolling out the SWF-indexing technology while Yahoo still has some work to do.

Top Domain Reseller Earns $38,000 Last Month!

By admin | May 28, 2008

Web DesignIdeally when you make a website you can find a business that earns residual income, this means that your customers pay you month to month or year to year. Rather than most businesses where you sell something and then that customer may or may not come back to purchase something, residual income allows you to earn money regularly from a customer.

A great residual income generator is reselling domains names and web hosting. The reason this is so beneficial is that the customer must pay you anually to keep their domain name or monthly to keep their web hosting account active. Obviously they can pre-pay for a certain period but they still remain your customer.

Domain Reseller Earns $38,000 In One Month

It’s true, a domain name reseller earned over $38,000 just last month reselling domain names, web hosting and other website related services. Obviously this is a top performer that put a lot of work into their website and marketing but it definitely can be done.

This reseller started out small and as time went on he started building a client base that renewed their services which allowed them to earn more in month than some people earn in a year and all they do is market the services.

Resell Domains Through WebsiteSpot.com

WebsiteSpot.com offers a domain reseller option through WebsiteSpot.biz and gives you a pre-defined website already built, all you need to do is login and customize the page.

The great thing is that you don’t even need to support your customers if you choose not to. 24 hour phone and email support is part of the annual fee of $59.99. The is for a basic reseller program and to lower your buy rate on domains, web hosting, etc you can upgrade to the Pro Reseller for $159.99 per year and earn even more.

What You Need To Become A Domain Reseller

As I mentioned, there is an annual fee of $59 to get started which gives you a turnkey website. All you need to do is login and customize the look, enter the information as to where you want your commissions deposited and a few support options.

Then it’s time to start marketing, if you already do any sort of design services this is a great way to monetize the domain names and web hosting that you offer your customers. If you’re just wanting to start a website to make money it’s important to find a niche market to market to so that you’re not competing with the large domain registrars.

Support Options

Lastly to help you get started and make your domain reseller business successful there is a full forum to intereact with current resellers along with a weekely online chat for you to share ideas and ask any questions that you may have.

There’s a 30 day money back guarantee and if you happen to have any questions feel free to email me at dl@websitespot.com. To learn more feel free to visit WebsiteSpot.biz.

Making Hyperlinks Open In A New Window

By admin | May 27, 2008

Web DesignI was doing some research on topics that visitors were searching for on my blog and at www.MakeAWebsiteSpot.com and found that quite a few people are looking for a way to get hyperlinks to open in a new window.

This is actually a very simple snippet of HTML code. A hyper link allows you to create a link from a webpage to another webpage in your website or to a completely different website.

Basic Hyperlink

The code to use is:

<a href=”http://www.websitespot.com”>Domain Name Registration</a>

The link would appear as: Domain Name Registration

Creating Hyperlinks To Open In A New Window

If you create a link but would like to open a new browser window once it’s clicked you can simply add a little more code to accomplish this. I’ve highlighted the additional code below.

<a target=”_blank” href=”http://www.websitespot.com”>Domain Name Registration</a>

The link would appear as Domain Name Registration but would open a new window when clicked.

That’s it, if you’re using a WYSIWYG editor such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver you probably won’t need this know this code because you can simply click a button that tells the hyperlink to open in a new window but it certainly doesn’t hurt to know.

Make Money Selling Advertising Space

By admin | May 14, 2008

The third part of my methods on how to make money online pertains to websites that have a fair amount of traffic to their website already. You should consider space on your website as real estate that can earn you money.

How Does Selling Advertising Work

If you have a decent amount of traffic to your website it’s probable that there are companies that would be willing to pay you to place a banner add or simply a text link on your website. Generally you’ll find that the companies that want to advertise on your website offer complementary products.

For instance, say your website is a tutorial about making your own website. If you can get a decent amount of traffic to your website it’s likely that you could sell advertising to companies that offer website building software or search engine optimization services.

The reason is that they know that the people that are visiting your website would be more interested in their product or service than if they were to advertise on a website related to cars.

How Much Can You Make Selling Advertising

This question is best answered by the amount of traffic that your website receives. If you get 100 hits a day your pricing would be significantly lower than if your website receives 50,000 hits per day.

The best way to determine pricing is by doing research on websites that currently sell advertising space. To take it a step further, it’d be best to research websites in the same market as the product or service that you offer.

How Is Advertising Billed

There are two main ways to sell advertising, you can either sell it for a flat rate per month regardless of hits to your website.

Another method is CPM, this is ‘cost per thousand impressions’, what this is saying is that you’re going to bill based on the number of times the advertisers ad is displayed.

For instance, say your website gets 50,000 hits per month and you bill at $5.00 cpm. This is saying that for every 1000 impressions (times the ad is displayed) it costs the advertiser $5.00. In this example you would bill the advertiser $250. As you can see the more traffic to your website the more you can make.

Another options is cpc, cost per click, this isn’t a very popular option because the opportunity for click fraud is there so it’s not an option that most advertisers would consider.

Additional Information

If you’d like to read more on selling advertising on your website you can visit a page that I put together with detailed information on how to sell advertising space on your website. You’ll also find a couple of free software options to manage your advertising campaigns.

In my next post I’ll cover selling products online.

Make Money Selling Other People’s Stuff

By admin | May 13, 2008

In this next post on how to make money online I’m going to cover drop shipping. I’m not talking about selling your neighbors lamp on eBay, I’m talking about selling the products for a company that offers drop shipping services. Most of these products are new and are purchased slightly higher than if you were to buy in bulk.

What Is Drop Shipping

Drop shipping is a method of selling a companies products without having to invest in buying the products in bulk. The pricing is generally slightly higher than if you were to buy them wholesale but they are still priced to allow you to make a profit.

How Does Drop Shipping Work

Drop shipping works by setting up an account with a company that offers drop shipping. Then you place the products on your website, generally through shopping cart software of some sort. Your visitors then complete the purchase through your website. You’ll need to accept payments online through either a merchant account or even through Pay Pal.

Once the sale is completed you’ll need to notify the drop ship company via the method that they specify. Some companies will want you to email it to them while others will require the order be faxed in or completed on their website.

Once this is done they will fulfill the order that you specified and generally email you a tracking number which you can pass along to your customer.

Benefits Of Drop Shipping

The main benefit of drop shipping is that you have no up-front cost. If you don’t sell anything, you don’t need to pay anything.

Another benefit is that most drop shipments are done anonymously meaning that the companies information is nowhere in the delivered package. This is a benefit because if the customer wants to reorder, they will most likely come back to your website for repeat purchases since they know nothing about the company that actually shipped their order.

Also, one nice thing about drop shipping is that it’s low maintenance. You don’t need to keep inventory, pay payroll or even rent to store all of the merchandise.

Additional Information On Drop Shipping

If you’re interested in reading more on drop shipping companies you can view an entire article that I wrote on making money drop shipping. In the article you’ll find information on locating drop ship companies in additional to common fees that you’ll likely incur.
